Join us on the Julianne and George Argyros Plaza for an exciting, FREE day of science and discovery! Sponsored by the Arnold and Mabel Beckman Foundation, the 4th annual Beckman Arts & Science Family Festival invites innovators of all ages to explore the connections between science and the arts through fun and engaging performances, interactive exhibits, and hands-on activities along with other festival food and fun! The festival runs from 11:30am – 2:30pm.

    Activities provided by our community partners will include LEGO car racing, sun telescopes, robot sumo-battles, live animal encounters, protein and DNA building models, and a walk through exhibit on the history of Earth. 

    Take home projects such as rain gutter regatta boats, sundials, mechanical robots, light up LED creations, and so much more! 

    Event Performances and Activities 

    Our festival will open with a land acknowledgement and blessing from Journeys to the Past , a Native American family ensemble followed by a rotation of performances from The Alley Cats , a musical comedy singing ensemble with tunes from the ’50s and ’60s, N8tive Hoop , world champion Hoop dance performers, and Music Notes LLC , former LAUSD teachers who engage students in STEM concepts through hip hop music. We will also have roving circus performers from Circo Etereo.

    Other festival activities include large scale building equipment (Imagination Playground and Rigamajig), FREE mini train rides around campus, balloon twisters, and a bubble play station provided by BubblePOP.

    Event Food

    Food & beverages will be available to purchase at George’s Café as well as local food trucks. Attendees are also welcome to bring their own refreshments, however outside alcohol, glass containers, tables, barbecues, and food preparation will not be permitted on the Plaza.
