Attending a show

  • How do I get to the theater?
    • Visit our directions page for detailed information on getting to the theater or click on the Google maps link in the footer below
  • Where do I park?
    • There are several parking garages adjacent to the Center.

Segerstrom Hall and Judy Morr Theater:  the closest parking structure is located at the Center Tower Parking Structure, adjacent to Segerstrom Hall on Sunflower Avenue between Avenue of the Arts and Park Center Drive.

Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall and Samueli Theater: the closest parking is in the Plaza Tower Parking Structure, which is across Park Center Drive from the Westin South Coast Plaza and directly behind the concert hall and South Coast Repertory.

    • Limited street parking is available for patrons visiting the box office.
  • How much is parking?
    • Current rates for performance parking are $15 (credit card only or you may pre-pay for parking below). Please note that Segerstrom Center for the Arts neither owns nor operates any of the parking garages or the site that allows pre-payment, and rates are subject to change.

    Pre-paid parking

    • Valet Parking is available for $30 on Town Center Drive, in the circle in front of the theater. Availability is on a first-come first served basis.
  • Do you have valet parking?
    • Yes, we offer Valet parking for patrons attending events, $30 per car.
    • Valet parking is also available for patrons dining at Leatherby’s Café Rouge.
  • Can I park at South Coast Plaza for performances at your venues?

    • Parking at South Coast Plaza is reserved for clientele of South Coast Plaza establishments who are currently shopping or dining.  Parking your vehicle at South Coast Plaza while attending a performance may result in your vehicle being towed.
  • How early should I arrive for the performance?

    • We recommend that you arrive at the theater at least one hour before the performance in order to give yourself enough time to park your car and be in your seats 10 minutes prior to the start of the show.  This ensures that you will not miss any of the performance.
    • During the Holiday season and during mid-week matinees, we recommend that you give yourself extra time, as traffic in the area can be higher than normal.
  • When do you start letting people in before a performance?

    • Doors to the building lobbies open one hour prior to the start of the performance.  Doors to the seating areas are generally opened 30 minutes prior to the start of the show.  Please note that not all shows are the same and these time are approximate.
  • What happens if I am late to a performance?

    • For the safety of the performers and to preserve the artistic experience for those already seated, you may be held in the lobby until an appropriate moment in the performance, which may be intermission for some performances.
    • If available, you may be directed to an area of the theater where we can seat you safely while the performance continues.  If this option is available, at intermission you may relocate to the seating locations you purchased.
    • We thank you for your understanding and apologize for any inconvenience this causes you.
  • How can I find out how long the performance is?
    • We make every effort to find out the length of a performance in advance.  However, we often do not know the exact length or run time of a performance until the show arrives at the theater.  As soon as we have the information, we include it on the production’s detail page on the website.  You can also call our Customer Services Specialists at (714) 556-2787 to see if the information is available.
  • Is there a dress code?

    • While we do not have an official dress code, most patrons opt for business or business-casual attire when attending events. Feel free to dress comfortably in anything from jeans and t-shirts to formalwear, but please refrain from wearing clothing with offensive images or language, as our venue reserves the right to deny entry in those cases. For everyone's comfort and safety, all patrons must wear shirts and shoes at all times. Also, please use fragrances sparingly, as many people have allergies. Our goal is to create an enjoyable environment for all.
  • Are all your shows appropriate for children?

    • Every child is different, and we believe that parents are best equipped to determine what is appropriate for their children.  We have many shows that are appropriate for children, but because not all of our shows fall into this category we have several ways to help you decide if the show is right for your child.
    • Search for shows under the categories of Kids Shows, Family or Family Friendly.
      • Kids Shows and Family shows are performances geared specifically for children ages 3 – 11.
      • Family Friendly performances are ones that Segerstrom Center believes are suitable for families of all ages to attend together.  However, some Family Friendly performances may be too long for younger children to sit through.
    • All of our Broadway type performances have a content guide, which you will find at the bottom of the performance details page for the production.  This guide will let you know more about the specific content of the show as well as provide an age recommendation for attendance.
    • Please note that all children, regardless of age, need tickets to attend performances.
  • What happens if something comes up and I cannot attend the show?

    • If you cannot make a schedule performance there are several options:
      • You may exchange your tickets to another date/time of the same production (subject to certain restrictions). For more details visit our Exchange Guidelines page.
      • If you are unable to exchange your tickets, you can call our Ticketing Services department to request to leave them at Will Call for a friend to pick up.
      • In some cases, you may donate your tickets back to Segerstrom Center and receive a receipt for your donation that may be deductible on your taxes.
      • In some cases, you may be eligible for a refund of the face value of your tickets.
    • If you are unsure which option is best for you, please call once of our Customer Service Specialists at (714) 556-2787 and they will assist you with your decision.
  • Can I drop someone off at the theater and then go park the car?

    • For both Segerstrom Hall and Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall you may drop off and pick up individuals in the circular drive on Town Center Drive.
    • Samueli Theater drop off is accessed off of Anton Blvd.
  • Can I take pictures during the show?
    • You may take pictures in the lobbies of all theaters.  However, due to copyright laws, there is no picture taking or video recording allowed inside the theaters during a performance.
  • What forms of ID are needed to purchase alcohol at the restaurants and bars at the Center?

For those guests that reside in the US, we accept all US government-issued IDs that include your photo and date of birth. For guests who live outside the US, a valid passport is required to purchase alcohol.

  • Do you have a smoking area available?

    • Segerstrom Center is a smoke-free facility.  No smoking (including electronic cigarettes or any other form of ‘vaping’) is permitted inside Center facilities or on any of the attached balconies. All such activities must be confined only to designated smoking areas outside the buildings.
  • I want to leave an emergency number for my babysitter, do you have one?

    • Please leave your seating locations with your exchange or sitter and have them call (714) 556-2321 in case of emergency.
  • I lost my tickets. Can you help me?

    • We can replace lost tickets either in advance or at the time of the performance. In advance of your show, please call Ticketing Services at (714) 556-2787.  We will ask you some questions to verify your purchase and hold replacement tickets at the box office for you to pick up. ID may be required. (Subject to a $3 service fee)
  • My seats are odd/even number only. Are we seated together?

    • Yes.  Some of our venue seating configurations use an odd/even numbering system to designate which side of the venue the seats are on.
  • I can see empty seats that are better than mine. Can I move to those seats instead?

    • Empty seats do not necessarily indicate that the seat is available.  Sometimes patrons arrive late to a performance and will expect their seats to be available for them.  We ask that you please remain in the seats that match the tickets you have.
