Founded in 2010 by Mevina and his wife Napua, Tavake Rereata has become a cornerstone of Polynesian dance in Southern California—blending traditional Tahitian styles with contemporary performance. This special showcase features stunning dancers from Tavake Rereata, delivering award-winning choreography that honors heritage while captivating modern audiences.
Setting the tone for the night, DJ Aye Dee spins an irresistible mix of funk, soul, reggae, R&B, and hip-hop—creating the perfect island-inspired atmosphere from the moment you arrive. Known for opening for artists like Kolohe Kai and Sammy Johnson, his sets are all about energy, connection, and keeping the vibe alive.

Every June and July, the Julianne and George Argyros Plaza transforms into your ultimate summer destination with Summer Sounds, a FREE, all-ages concert series showcasing the diverse and dazzling talent of Southern California and beyond. Come early for preshow fun with food trucks and outdoor games. As the sun sets, settle in with a drink, a treat, and your favorite people—then let the music take it from there.

Performer Bio
Mevina is a Polynesian vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, and choreographer from Orange County, CA. His work blends traditional Polynesian drumming with contemporary melodies influenced by Tahiti, Samoa, Tonga, the Cook Islands, Fiji, and Hawaii, creating performances that are both musical and visually driven. Drawing on his strong background in Tahitian dance and award-winning choreographic work, Mevina integrates movement and music to present his art as a fully immersive experience.
In 2010, Mevina and his wife Napua opened a Polynesian dance school called Tavake Rereata. Together they fuse their talents and bring award-winning Tahitian dance and Polynesian culture to Orange County. (Mevina's performance will feature dancers from Tavake Rereata)
DJ Aye Dee, born and raised in the South Bay area of Los Angeles. As Island Block Radio's head DJ he's opened for acts like Kolohe Kai, Sammy Johnson, Fia, as well as nightlife locally, San Diego and Las Vegas. Forever promoter of a GREAT TIME, you feel his joy for music through the speakers and song selections. Ranging from Funk, Soul, Reggae, R&B, and Hip-hop; if there is a "vibe" DJ Aye Dee will find it! (DJ Aye Dee will be playing music from 7-8 pm and from 9:15-9:30 pm).

This is a casual outdoor concert in an open plaza with limited seating. Seating is unassigned and first come, first served, so we recommend arriving early for the best spots. Bring your lawn chairs, blankets, and sweaters to stay comfortable throughout the evening.
Food & Drinks
Enjoy a variety of food and drink options on-site, including local food trucks and George’s Café, offering everything from gourmet bites to refreshing beverages. You’re also welcome to bring your own picnic baskets with snacks and non-alcoholic drinks.
