Step Into Footwear Fun

The hit musical Kinky Boots returns to the Center

What do you do when you inherit your family’s shoemaking business, but it’s going bust?

What do you do when you’re a tall, glamorous drag queen who keeps breaking her six-inch heels?

Kinky Boots video

When Charlie and Lola accidently meet in a London pub and discover they can help each other, it's shoe heaven. Now all Charlie has to do is persuade Lola to come work with him—out in the unsophisticated sticks (i.e. not London)—helping his company create stiletto footwear that won't break down on the job.

That's the premise of Kinky Boots, the exhilarating Broadway musical that will lift your spirits to new high-heeled heights! And it's inspired by a true story. After his father's death, Charlie Price is struggling to live up to his father's expectations and continue the family shoemaking business of Price & Son. But the shoes it produces are old-fashioned and no one wants to buy them. With the factory's future hanging in the balance, help arrives in the unlikely but spectacular form of Lola, a drag performer in need of some sexy but sturdy footwear. Together, this unlikely pair finds that they have more in common than they ever dreamed possible. As they move from a shoe factory in provincial Northampton to the glamorous catwalks of Milan, they prove that when you change your mind about someone, you can change your whole world.

Kinky Boots is filled with songs by Grammy® and Tony® Award-winning pop icon Cyndi Lauper and a book by Broadway legend and four-time Tony Award winner Harvey Fierstein (La Cage aux Folles). No wonder Kinky Boots won six Tony Awards including Best Musical, Best Score and Best Choreography. CBS News says, " There is no show hotter than Kinky Boots!" The Chicago Tribune calls it " a big-hearted, high-kicking hit!"

Take a step in the right direction and discover that sometimes the best way to fit in is to stand out—in fabulous footwear!
