Overview

Upstream has been spreading their message of love and positivity through their exhilarating Caribbean Music, namely, Reggae, Calypso, Soca and Steel Drum Music, for quite some time now. Through the years they have mesmerized audiences throughout the world and brought many to kneel at their alter of ultimate enjoyment. With a multi-talented line up of some of the most experienced and enlightened musicians in their camp, they continue to spread joy to an unsuspecting public. Bandleader and Lead Singer/Guitarist "Haile Blackman" is originally from The Republic of Trinidad & Tobago and the Son of the Legendary Creator of Soca Music, the late Ras Shorty I. Steel Drum Extraordinaire “Derek Brewstafari” is also a Trinidad and Tobago native and will tug at your heartstrings with his melodic Steel Drum tones. Upstream currently has six CD’s available. Their discography is as follows: “Upstream”, self-titled CD release in 1995, “Life” released in 2000, “Jump to the Rhythm” in 2001, “To Da Maxx” and “Pick Up Yourself” in 2007 and most recently “21st Century –Live” in 2013.

Summer Sounds on the Plaza is a casual and welcoming series of sunset concerts reflecting the global communities and diverse musical influences found in Southern California including Latin, pop/rock, R&B, hip-hop, and more. All are welcome to join the fun!

Pod Info & Safety Precautions:
The ticket price for this event includes one physically distanced viewing area (or “pod”) with space for up to 6 viewers. Only you and those attending with you will be seated in your assigned pod. Concert goers should plan to bring their own folding chairs and refreshments as these will not be provided by the Center. Due to space and sightline limitations, tables, barbecues, and food preparation will not be permitted on the Plaza.

Please note that the following safety precautions will be in place for this event:
Masks must be worn by all guests upon check-in and until they arrive to their assigned viewing areas. Each viewing area will be separated by 6 feet of space from neighboring viewing areas. Contactless check-in will include a touchless thermometer temperature check, and hand sanitizer stations will be accessible throughout the Plaza.

Audience Advisory: Masks are encouraged, but not required.
