Frequently asked questions

  • How do I sign my class up for a field trip?

Requests to attend one of our performances can be made online by clicking on the "Register for a Live Performance" tab above.

  • I have registered online, now what happens?

Our team will review your request(s) and contact you regarding the status of your request (either with an invoice or confirmation of your placement on the wait list) within 4-6 weeks of submitting your request. Due to the volume of requests, we may not be able to provide information on the status of your request sooner than that. Reservations are not confirmed until an invoice is received from the Center's Education Department. Completing this form does not guarantee your school's reservation.

  • Do I need to pay when I register?

You do not need to pay at the time of your request. Payments are due six weeks before your performance. A member of our team will send your Registration Contact an invoice and payment deadline schedule.

  • Do you accept purchase orders?

Unfortunately, we are unable to accept purchase orders for On Stage at the Center performances. You may either pay via credit card or mail a check with a copy of your invoice to:

    Segerstrom Cener for the Arts
    Attn: Bus-Ins
    600 Town Center Drive
    Costa Mesa, CA 92626

  • Is there a minimum or maximum group size to attend?

While there is no group size requirement, our theater has a maximum capacity of 300 seats unless otherwise noted.

  • Is there a price difference between adults and students?

There is no price difference. For every 15 students you will receive one free adult ticket.

  • What if I need to cancel?

Cancellations must be made in writing via email. You may email your cancellation to bus-ins@scfta.org. Notice of cancellation must be made six weeks before the scheduled performance. Any cancellations made after the deadline will require payment. Repeated failure to give notice of cancellation in a timely manner may affect eligibility to book future performances.

  • Is there a fee if I need to adjust my order?

There is no fee if a school needs to change a confirmed reservation before the six-week deadline, but seating is limited and we may not be able to accommodate requests for additional seats or a different performance. Please confirm the dates and times with your school's master calendar as well as the number of students attending before booking to avoid capacity issues. No refunds will be issued for cancellations or seat reductions made after the six-week payment deadline.

  • How early should we arrive?

We ask that all groups arrive thirty minutes prior to their performance. This allows us enough time to get everyone in their seats so the performance may start on time. If you plan on having lunch or snack before the performance, please allow for additional time.

  • How long is the performance?

All performances are approximately one hour long.

  • How does seating work?

There are no physical tickets for On Stage performances and seating is first come, first served. Your group will check in with Center Staff at the entrance of the theater and then join the line to enter the theater. We do not allow groups to save seats for members of their party who are late. Seating is on risers to allow a good view from anywhere in the theater so even little ones can see well from the back.

  • Do you have accessible seating? What services do you provide?

We do have accessible seating and can provide other services such as ASL interpretation. Please tell us what needs you have before your arrival so we can make the right arrangements for you.

  • Can my group eat lunch at the Center?

We do have several areas on our plaza that your group can enjoy a picnic lunch. Please note that areas designated for lunch are outside and cannot accommodate rain. If your school plans to eat lunch on property, please let us know so we can ensure trash cans are available for your use.

  • How do bus rebates work?

Bus rebates may be submitted online. Your registration contact will be emailed the online form after the performance. Please note that Segerstrom Center can offer up to a $450 rebate per bus with a maximum of 3 buses per school per performance.

  • Does everyone need a seat? Do you allow lap seating?

We ask that each child have a seat, regardless of age. Children may sit in laps or babies may be in arms, but all children must have a seat and be included in your student ticket count.

  • My group will not arrive on a bus. Do you provide parking?

The Center does not own or operate any of the surrounding parking lots or structures. We will be unable to validate or provide reimbursement. A map will be provided to your “Day Of” Contact indicating our recommendation for parking and parking prices.
