Jazzy Ash and the Leaping Lizards

Some Programs Available Virtually

For the 22-23 season, only the pre-recorded assembly Fly Through My Window will be available. Jazzy Ash will be touring her new musical North, commisioned by Segerstrom Center for the Arts.

Follow precocious Lawrence and his mother, Minnie, as they escape the Deep South and travel North through the Underground Railroad to seek freedom in this new musical commissioned by Segerstrom Center. Their route through the Louisiana bayous, the bustling city of New Orleans, and the young town of Lawrence, Kansas introduce Lawrence, Minnie, and the audience to the diverse, multi-faceted lives of Black Americans during this time period. While acknowledging the realities of slavery, North brings out the full experience of freedom-seekers: optimism, bravery, playfulness, wonder, suspense, and mystery.
