DONATE EARLY!

Segerstrom Center for the Arts is known for bringing world-class artistic experiences to Orange County, but did you know providing access to the arts goes far beyond what happens on campus? Recently, Segerstrom Center welcomed approximately 150 student teacher candidates from Cal-State Fullerton’s multiple-subject teacher training program to attend Arts Avenues to Learning, a two-day professional development seminar on arts integration into everyday curriculum. Many California teachers do not study the arts as part of their requirements for certification and may be unfamiliar with the powerful role it can play for student learning and engagement. Early career educators also learn that the arts are among the most highly effective classroom management tools!

Segerstrom Center works in partnership with CSUF to show teachers how they can teach the arts, integrate the arts with other subjects, and use best practices in the arts as a classroom management tool.

"I learned how to respond to different types of creativity and how to encourage all types of creativity. Nothing was wrong or rejected, but rather, everything was encouraged. I loved seeing how we can bring the arts and creativity into all the different subjects. I feel motivated and excited to incorporate these strategies and ideas into my classroom."  – Arts Avenues to Learning participant

The number of elementary students impacted by this program grows exponentially each year as program participants settle into their teaching careers. Through arts training and creativity development for future teachers, Segerstrom Center provides perspective-changing experiences that can assist these education leaders in providing a safe, and innovative classroom experience for future generations.

Please help us continue to provide vital arts education opportunities on our campus, in our community, and beyond. Join friends and family in supporting the arts during this season of giving!
