About the artists The Szymanowski Quartet, which made its Center debut to great acclaim in 2010, has developed into one of the most exceptional international string quartets of its generation. Their sophisticated programs present a perfect balance between intellect and passion, characteristics with which the Szymanowski Quartet captivates its audiences at prestigious festivals and concert halls in Europe, the United States, Asia, Australia and South America. For its return to the Concert Series, the Quartet is joined by acclaimed pianist Adam Golka.
“These were absolutely stunning performances — luminous, probing, deeply personal and drawn with unerring emotional accuracy.” - The Washington Post on Adam Golka
About the program Three acclaimed Polish composers are featured in this unique program, including two relatively unknown, yet very influential, Polish artists: Grazyna Bacewicz, who achieved rare fame as a female composer in Eastern Europe, and Waclaw of Szamotuly, who held the title of Royal Composer in the court of Sigismund II Augustus.
Waclaw of Szamotuly: Three Polish Chorales (1520-1560) Szymanowski: String Quartet, Op. 56 #2 Bacewicz: Piano Quintet #1 Brahms: Piano Quintet F Minor, Op. 34
