Harbison: Remembering Gatsby: Foxtrot for Orchestra
Gershwin: Rhapsody in Blue
Gershwin: Variations on “I’ve Got Rhythm”
Rachmaninoff: Symphony No. 2

Perhaps the most famous work of classical music by an American composer, “Rhapsody in Blue” combines classical themes and techniques with that most American of musical forms – jazz. Jazzier still: “I’ve Got Rhythm.” Rachmaninoff’s Symphony No. 2 came 10 years after the abject failure of his first. Although he declared it was not in his nature to compose symphonies, you will surely disagree.

Running time (approximate): 2 hours
