The Guilds of Segerstrom Center for the Arts held its 16th annual Fashion Gala on Thursday evening, March 24 in The Westin South Coast Plaza. The Guilds' Fashion Gala is always a welcome opening to the spring season – and the predicted rains held off in respect for the performing arts fans. The Guilds raised $200,000 to support the Center's world-renowned artistic programs as well as the critically important education outreach, which each year enriches the lives of approximately 400,000 young people. In fact, since opening, Segerstrom Center has provided arts education programs both on its campus and in schools to more than six million youngsters and educators in seven California counties.

Each Fashion Gala honors a special member of the Center's family. This year the Guilds selected Zee Allred as Honorary Chair. Allred, a leading Orange County businesswoman and philanthropist, has served on the Center's board of directors for many years, is a member of the support groups, Angels of the Arts and The Guilds, and was the gala's Platinum Sponsor. As she accepted the accolades of guests and her predecessor as Honorary Chair, Sandy Daniels, Allred emphasized the importance of the arts in our educational system and implored everyone to continue to rally for arts in the schools and to support them through their support of Segerstrom Center.
Kathy Fleming was at the helm of this year's gala. She and Guilds Co-Chairs Lois Adams and Carol Piturro-Kentner saw to it that it was style and fashion from the moment guests walked into The Westin. The pre-show champagne reception, hosted by Lugano Diamonds, and silent auction began upstairs in the poolside Terrace Pavilion. A treasure of tantalizing offerings surrounded the room while four stunning models held center stage in ESCADA evening gowns and dazzling jewelry from Lugano Diamonds.

Guests adjourned to the Westin's ballroom for dinner and the show featuring ESCADA's 2011 Spring/Summer Collection. The raffle brought special delight to Sandra Hovanesian, who won a membership in the Center's donor rooms for a year; to Harriette Watson, who won a $1,250 South Coast Plaza Shopping Spree and one-year complimentary valet service; and to Bobbi Cummings – the grand prize of a triple-strand necklace of freshwater pearls each strand 65-inches in length, courtesy of Lugano Diamonds.
