The Unauthorized Autobiography of Samantha Brown is the new
musical about Sam, a girl who has what everyone always wanted: brains,
a boyfriend, functional parents and an acceptance letter to the college
of her choice. So she doesn’t need to be worried about where she is
going…right? When you're young and at a crossroads, the answer isn’t
always easy. As the defining moments of her senior year flash through
her mind, Sam has to come to terms with her parents' expectations,
her first love and a lost friendship before she can make the first
decision of her adult life.

This is a unique opportunity for those who love theatre to be a
part of the process that takes a theatrical piece from its early
stages to the big stage. Your participation as an audience member
during the run of The Unauthorized Autobiography
of Samantha Brown will be essential to providing the show with great insight and valuable
feedback needed to take that next step to Broadway.
The intimacy of
the Samueli Theater serves as an ideal stage for creators Kait Kerrigan
and Brian Lowdermilk to observe their musical as it develops. This
engagement will be the first time they get to see and hear this new
work as a fully staged incarnation. The music, lyrics, book and performances
will develop throughout the rehearsal process, then will continue to
evolve once Samantha Brown is shared with an audience. As a result,
no two performances will be alike. After each, the creators and the
actors will stand back, evaluate and make adjustments that will focus
and strengthen their concept. We encourage you to attend more than
one performance to note changes and enhancements. The involvement of
the Center’s audiences will ensure that their message and intent are
fully realized.
Just as this musical is about Samantha Brown the person's
life journey; these performances at the Center are part of Samantha
Brown the musical's creative journey. We hope you join us!
