The Discovery Series, designed for children ages 4 to 8, features five shows. The Explorer Series features three shows and is geared for children age 7 and older. All shows will feature our popular pre-show interactive activities in the lobby of Samueli Theater.

The Okee Dokee Brothers (Joe and Justin) put their passion for the outdoors at the heart of their Americana Folk music, recording and performing family music with a goal of inspiring inspire children and parents to get outside and experience nature. The Grammy and Parent's Choice award-winning duo has gained an enthusiastic following that is drawn to their witty lyrics, strong musicianship and unique folk style, while motivating kids to gain a greater respect for the natural world, their communities and themselves.

February 8 & 9, 2014

Miss Ivory Tinklefinger, Queen of Sleep, is hired to sing the audience to sleep, but tonight her piano has a mind of its own. Her lullabies come alive – and the consequences are wild! Inspired by parents' daily challenge of putting their little ones to bed, Still Awake Still! explores the tussle between order and chaos, rest and play, reason and intuition, in a drama that celebrates the process of creativity. Part-concert, part-theater, the entire show emerges like magic from beneath the lid of the ingenious grand piano set. Based on much-loved songs from I'm Still Awake, Still!, a bedtime book by Elizabeth Honey and Sue Johnson, this show is strikingly original, strangely beautiful and ridiculously funny, with mayhem worthy of the Marx Brothers.

The Gingham family is very concerned for all the lost and discarded hand-made toys in the world and travels the world to find them. They bring them to their colorful home and welcome them to the family. Each toy is introduced one-by-one, and, after seeing a slide show of how they came to be lost, they are given a vocal sound, a movement, a piece of music, a night-light ... and a nice comfy bed. Family participation is guaranteed in this side-splitting story featuring intricate music sampling, unique projection and astonishing vocal comedy.

It's hard to put into words the joy of seeing a performance by acclaimed clown Gale LaJoye. This unique and highly-acclaimed entertainer, who honed his talents at Ringling Bros and Barnum and Bailey Circus, somehow manages to convey more emotion, humor and creativity than most other performers…all without uttering a single word. In Snowflake, La Joye portays a homeless man with a special gift for transforming other people's junk into things of beauty!

  Lightwire Theater – The Ugly Duckling and The Tortoise And The Hare
May 17 & 18, 2014

Lightwire Theater brings new life to a pair of classic tales, Hans Christian Andersen's The Ugly Duckling and Aesop's fable, The Tortoise and The Hare. Lined with electroluminescent wire, these well-known characters illuminate the darkened stage and wend their way into audiences' hearts. Part theater and part dance, this completely unique live experience has electrified audiences across the country, including their recent breakout performances on NBC's America's Got Talent.

Box Office Hours
The Center Box Office, located at 600 Town Center Drive in Costa Mesa, is open daily from 10:00 6:00 p.m. On days with evening performances, the box office remains open half-an-hour after the show begins. Holiday hours may vary.
